#CLTBRCHALLENGE15 Book Review: “The Time Machine” by H.G. Wells 4/5 Stars

Overview: The time traveler invites a group of men over to his house to discuss his theory of time being the fourth dimension and ability to traverse through time. Everyone is a bit skeptical, but listen to his speech. The time traveler even built a small working prototype and shows his guests how his larger machine will work. They were still on the fence about it, some believing the disappearing model to be a magician’s trick. A week later, the same group goes back to the time traveler’s house for dinner, but he is not there. Under orders to begin dinner if he is not back by eight, they begin to eat without him. He returns twenty or so minutes after, bathes and comes down to gobble up a hearty meat dinner. Then they proceed to the library, where the time traveler tells where he spent a week in the future in the matter of one day.

Opinion: It is good, and so much different from the movies. To compare the two would be horrible, simply because the movies took free reign and veered FAR from the story line. Humans look similar to China dolls and the bad humans resemble our ancestral primate relatives than humans. It could be a bit slow at times, but it kept a good pace once problems began to arise.

Recommend: Yes.
