Can she be an employee if she’s never stepped foot on the company’s property? Would she be qualified to orginaize a worker’s union for that company if she hasn’t actually worked there? She wouldn’t have 1st hand experience and the knowledge she gains 2nd hand could be exaggerated or not the full picture.
The opening page is just confusing. Figured out, no she is not an employee but sounds like someone hired by the employees to help them become a union. Ok… in my head I’m picturing the bulk of workers gathered together and decided on this in order to take it to Sasha in the first place. Wouldn’t that mean all she would need to do is paperwork? Why would they need to keep the efforts quiet if everyone at the workplace already knows what is happening? You can’t keep things hush hush at work for long, especially when you need a majority of the force to chip in.
This opening just isn’t working well for me.
Aw hell, Author said Charlestown, not Charleston. Some of the charm is gone.
So far the MMC, Finn, is a whiney bitch. I’m honestly thinking he’s like Ashton Kutcher mixed with a character called Van from the tv Reba.
No way in hell can you have a woman kidnapped and taken to your apartment without her thinking you had anything to do with it.
How much darker and twisted can you get if you got beat up by their flunkies? Think about it, most mobs/mafias have a code that includes not harming women. In general men have this same commandment. They don’t. Pretty much only thing worse would be messing with kids in someway and nothing has been shown to imply they would. So my question is how naive is the FMC to believe they are darker and more twisted than kidnapping? Beating the crap out of her was worse than the kidnapping was.
Like they don’t already know where she is and won’t go for her little brother if she doesn’t cooperate? I’m beginning to think Sasha is dumber than a box of rocks.
That’s one thing I’ve never understood about the rough romance genre, how does bringing the woman to a climax equal punishment? Are you going for the guilt trip that happens afterwards? Hoping she hates herself enough for being forced to get off that she will cooperate? Yea she might feel guilt, like she betrayed herself or womankind for a bit, but probably not enough not to defy the guy again if his punishment is a mind-numbing orgasam that makes her feel so good.
She’s sure spending a lot of money for someone who claims to be dirt poor, and no guilt? Haha that’s funny.
Finn’s not one to use false flattery? Dude that’s like number one in his rule book. The girl is clueless. It’s sad that I can remember a time when I was that dumb, it was in the 7th grade, but I guess girls are dumb at different ages.
Another thing I wonder about is how do these people not see that the choice to keep going, damned the consequences is really selfish? They know if they don’t stop someone is going to get hurt. 9 times out of 10 it’s going to be a loved one as that cause more damage. Choosing to keep going with the unionization is only going to get her brother hurt, but it’s ok because IF she wins, she would have beat the mob. Yes I am aware these are characters in a fake book, but you also see this logic in movies and if asked hypothetically how a person in real life would handle it, some would answer in the same way, because they believe it is the right thing to do. Fight for the little guy, no matter who dies. If you truly care about someone, you will protect them at all costs. But sure, family dies for a noble cause.
This brings me to another question, why are they just picking on her? Worst they are doing to the employees, who caused the fuss in the first place, is spreading propaganda against unions. Why not pick a handful at random and threaten them, beat them up to send a message to the others. Sure they could quit, but a lot would straighten up because they need to keep their jobs. Hiring a few outweighs getting unionized or the risk of over half of their employees walking out.
Said it before and I’ll say it again, I overthink shit.
Now he needs to stop focusing on apologizing and work on getting her brother out of town. If he does it quickly and quietly, she can be genuinely upset, file a missing person’s report, get rid of James Carney (for kidnapping) and the Labor Board would take notice of it as trying to tamper with the vote and possibly pass the unionization even faster. A win-win for everyone, because Finn could get back in her good graces. Of course the brother could magically reappear after the dust settles, with a correct story of being kidnapped by one of James’ thugs.
After the election? Move the kid the MMC’s dad wants dead right now, after the election? I’m so glad the mob boss has a ton of patience. Especially when it has been stated that James wants his son to fail, meaning he has a backup plan in place and will pull the trigger anytime. There is little to no logic, no sense of urgency and it’s making the storyline fall flat.
If he’s defeating he will be more hellbent on revenge. Again no logic.
Unless she quit her job, she’s still in the union game, just not on the casino case. We don’t know if she quit or not yet.
Ok so, turns out this is a collection of 3 books. I read Rake, but do not feel the need to read the other two. This one was drawn out too long and only held my interest to see how much worse it could get. Yea it had some good moments but they were few and in-between.
