Three months ago…

“Miss. Potter, will you please tell us the events leading up to the death of Mr. Alexander Addams?” My lawyer asked.

I sat in front of him with my head bowed, fidgeting with my bloody hands. They had picked me up before the cops had even showed. I haven’t had a chance to clean up. “Sir…I don’t remember what happened. Is Alex really dead?”

“We both know he is. I want you to start at the beginning of the school year, and tell us every small detail. We are here to help you, but we need to know what happened in order to know how to spin everything.”

“I don’t know what happened. The last thing I remember was…” I had to sit and think for a few minutes. “The party. Something happened at the party.”

“That’s good, but go back farther than that. Just tell us everything. Don’t worry about getting into trouble, that’s my job.” The lawyer said.

“Where’s Mr. O’Reilly? Is he mad?” I was suddenly scared of my big boss wanting to kill me for what they say I did.

“He is at home. He understands your predicament and trusts me to solve this. You are a valued employee and he wants to help you.”

“What’s the catch?” There is always a catch with him. Not knowing what I’m getting into could cost me a lot.

“No strings. This is how he takes care of his clients. I know it’s hard, but I really need you to tell me everything you can remember, let me help you.”

“I don’t remember everything, but this is what I do remember…”

#Book Work

Awhile ago I announced the title of a new book I’m working on, and the title wasn’t concrete. I have now chosen a better title and it is going along smoothly. “Crap…I’m A Vampire” has taken a turn in story development and is now titled, “To Paint a Vampire.” It is about a shy Chrissy is fresh out of another abusive relationship, this time unscathed but still unsettled. Her friends drag her to a party and forget the past for a few hours. Drake is tall, dark and handsome; a perfect gentleman and in search of a bride. They find each other at the party, and feel an instant connection, that slowly brings each other out of their shell, but their happiness is short lived. Drake’s twin sister arrives and plots to destroy his dream in order to bring him back to her nefarious ways.

To Paint A Vampire

I’m trying out a whole new writing style and extremely nervous about how it is going to come out, but am also very excited to finish it and send it off into the world.

Creative Writing Assignment-Screen Play

I know it’s not formatted correctly on here, sorry about that. I now know why I am not a screen play writer, formatting is a pain in the arse! I was up all night just formatting and figuring out where everything goes for two short scenes, equating to 7 measly pages!. Not by best work but hey I still like it.

Title: True Evil Queen

SCENE ONE

Int. High school gym-1:00 PM

Girls and boys in a circle around Jezebel, who is crying and holding broken glasses. Kids taunting her and pushing her every so often.

All
(chanting)
Jezzey-bell the big fat whale

Mid-Twenties Daemon walks in dressed in am all white suite. Breaks up the crowd and pulls Jezebel to the stage.

Daemon
(caring)
Are you OK Jezebel?

Jezebel
(sobbing)
No, they broke my glasses. I can’t see anything. It’s all fuzzy.

Daemon waves his hands over her eyes.

Jezebel
(astonished)
I can see! How did you do that?

Daemon
(happy)
That is nothing compared to all I can do. I can change my age as well.

Poof of white smoke and Daemon is a 12-year-old boy dressed in a black hoodie and black jeans.

Daemon cont’d
See nothing to it.

Jezebel
(amazed)
Who are you?

Daemon
(chuckling)
Daemon. I’m here to make you an offer. A chance to get back at every single one of those kids tormenting you.

Jezebel
(interested)
How? I’m not like you, I can’t do any of that magic.

Daemon
There is a…another plane of resistance. One that I can take you to and you can learn the same tricks, plus more.

Jezebel
(cautious)
How? Why me? What’s the catch?

Daemon
(contemplating)
The way the other plane works is, you must make a sacrifice to enter. The bigger the sacrifice, the better your position there. My meager sacrifice allowed me to shed my old enemies, make this world a better and become the most powerful man on the other plane.

Jezebel
What type of sacrifice?

Daemon
Nothing too big, but it is sort of a two part sacrifice. Or some combine it into one to get it over with. The bigger the sacrifice makes it easier.

Jezebel
(irritated)
What type of sacrifice?!

Daemon
(glaring)
You have to unlock your true nature. To do so you must end someone’s life. The more people, the better off you are when you shed your corporeal form and join me.

Jezebel
(bored)
That’s it? Seriously? I’ve been working on how to get rid of my class for months now.

Daemon
I know that’s why I’m here. The other plane has a knack of knowing where to find people like you.

Jezebel
(inquisitive)

What if there was someone I wanted dead more than all the kids in my class? Would this person be the counted as just one or multiple?

Daemon
(confused)
No matter how much you want one certain person dead that one only counts as one. Leading to you just being a soldier instead of a queen by going with six or more.

Jezebel
So even if my hatred for this person can equate to that of a whole class of fourteen, I’d still be a low man on the totem pole?

Daemon
Maybe…I could move you up to controlling a whole army. It would take some work, but I could do it.

Jezebel takes two steps away from Daemon. The lights fade out with one spotlight on her.

Jezebel
(aside)
I don’t think this fool knows whom he is really talking to. This is going to be too easy.

Taking two steps back toward Daemon, light fades in.

Jezebel
I can work with that.

Daemon
Whom do you have in mind?

Jezebel
My mother.

Light fades out

SCENE TWO

INT. 2nd FLOOR HOUSE-MIDNIGHT

Medium sized circular room with purple walls and purple shag carpeting. On the bench seat is 12-year-old Jezebel. Dressed in black jeans and a black hoodie, staring at the middle of the room.

JEZEBEL
(curiously)
Why should I kill her Daemon?

Daemon appearing as a 12-year-old boy dressed the same as Jezebel. Standing in the middle of the room holding a sharp knife carefully by the blade, offering it to her.

DAEMON
(urging)
She must die for you to join me.

JEZEBEL
But she’s my mum, certainly I would get in trouble with da.

DAEMON
(calmly)
You cannot join me unless you make a female sacrifice.

JEZEBELLE
My life ain’t enough? Why her and not someone else?

Stairs creak outside the closed door. Mum and Da can be heard laughing off stage.

JEZEBEL Cont’d
(nervous)
They’re coming. Put the knife away.
Daemon fades into the shadows, the knife slides across the floor by his unseen hands. Jezebel quietly jumps into a single bed and pulls the covers over her head. Light creeps in as Mum opens the door, pops her head in.

MUM
(whispering)
She’s asleep.

Mum pulls her head out and closes the door. The couple are heard stumbling down the hall and a door thuds shut.

JEZEBELLE
They gone?
Daemon is still invisible but voice is coming from left of the bed.

DAEMON
(irritated)
Yes, they’ve gone to bed.

Jezebel pushes the blanket down to her chest and looks for Daemon. He appears in swirling black smoke.

JEZEBEL
(frightened)
Please don’t be angry Daemon. I’ll do it, if you want me too. Just please don’t leave me.

DAEMON
Why shouldn’t I just leave you here? You’re worthless. Pathetic, I don’t know why I ever chose you. Jezebel, you could never lead my army.

Daemon shows what Jezebel believes to be his true self, handsome 25-year-old man in an all-white suit. He stretches.

DAEMON
(relieved)
That’s better. Sorry, I get a little cranky as a boy. Look, if you want to join me and become the woman you are supposed to be you will do it. Otherwise I’ll have to move on.

Jezebel gets out of bed and on her knees

JEZEBEL
(desperate)
Please Daemon, I want to go with you! There is nothing for me here, you promised me a better life if I would just kill myself and one other.

Daemon sits on the edge of the bed, head resting on hands.

DAEMON
(aggravated)
If you remember correctly, I promised you your own queendom if you committed mass murder of more than six women. Then we negotiated down to one woman of my choosing for fighting by my side. If you back out now, I disappear and you become the next target.

Jezebel stops crying and stands up.

JEZEBEL

(determined)
I’ll do it. Where is the knife?

The knife appears in her left hand. She grips it firmly. Jezebel stalks to the door, knife raised.

Daemon
(happy)
Finally…go on my little minion.

Daemon follows behind, Jezebel stops at the door.

JEZEBEL
(quietly)
Just one thing. I don’t want to rule just one queendom.

Jezebel spins quickly around and stabs Daemon in the heart.

JEZEBEL
(evil)
I want it all!

In other news, my Camp NaNoWriMo was somewhat of a failure and kind of not. I wrote 23,892 words out of a goal of 30,000. So I failed to make my goal but came very close to finishing. Can’t wait to see what I can do in July!

I continued #Musical Monday Reviews and will continue them into May. Sanctuary Edits is working with a second author already and still open for new clients. I also announced Guest Posts this month, but have not heard back from the one who contacted me yet. I am opening that spot up to anyone who would be interested, any topic you would like. Classes are going ok but I have just been out of it the last two weeks. I was really sick one day and haven’t caught up yet. Iit’s been a lazy, feel like “blah” last two weeks. I hope it gets better.

Let’s have a good May!

#BetaReaders for #LoveandDrugs

Camp NanoWriMo is coming to a close, and I am very close to finishing my book. I know it is a bit crazy to think I can write a little less then 10,000 words in three days(especially with me taking time to write this) but I only have a chapter and a half left. So I’m ready to start looking for beta readers. Any takers? Email me and I can send you a copy, once it’s finished of course. 🙂

The book is about Magdalene, a senior in college, preparing for a trip to Europe and finally got the girl of her dreams. She has a perfect job working for a flower shop (that isn’t your typical flower shop) and not a care in the world. But Magdalene has a couple of pretty big secrets, that she wants to keep. However, the most dangerous of secrets walks in on the first day of school. Her ex-boyfriend is back in town and ready to violate his restraining order, as well as mess with her job. So she calls in her favor to The Family, and all hell ensues. In the end only one will survive, but who is going down?

Excerpt: “I was overweight in high school, so this uniform didn’t look half as good on me then as it does now. Boys and girls a like would pick on me and drive my self-esteem lower and lower. Then one day I met Alex. Handsome and smooth talking Alex. We bonded over our love for music and when we sang in choir, it was magic. We started out as friends but wanted to take it a step further.
“So we tried dating. Everything went smoothly for the first few weeks, we would hold hands and kiss each other goodbye on the cheek. He took me to movies and watch sunsets from high up on the ridge of the rock query, he was a perfect gentleman but then he tried to force himself on me.” I looked over at her to see how she was taking it so far. Monica seemed OK so far, but the tale is only starting to go dark.
I continued, “I fought him off and just treated it like he was joking around. He persisted and I broke up with him. Of course he spread it around that he broke up with me because I was too clingy or something.
“Then a few months later, he roped me in saying he was sorry and wouldn’t try anything like that again until I was ready. So we tried again and everything started the same as before. After awhile he began to force himself upon me and I would fight him, this time he would shame me into having sex with him.

Discipline or Abuse?

A little while ago a TV show aired a miniseries about a man slapping a child. (Little clear up, I watched the Australian version.) Each episode gives a different point of view from those that were around at the time of the incident. The first episode sets the scene, it is Hector’s 40th birthday and his wife is throwing him a party with friends and family. Hector is having his own issues leading up to the infamous slap, and before he can have a nervous breakdown his cousin slaps a child that isn’t his.

This child in question is about four or five years old, single child and spoiled. His parents allow him to get away with anything and they display that through out the show. He is first in trouble for biting another child, then he breaks a video game controller. Hugo, the child, is then caught messing with CDs  and vinyl records, coating them in chocolate and chips as well as scratching them. The last incident before the slap is him being yelled at by his parents for repeatedly pulling up flowers from the roots. The mother’s response is to pick him up and breast feed him in front of the other children and Hector, who comes to sort out the arguing. The children went outside to play cricket, and the child has the bat/paddle thing. Playing by the rules, he was out and didn’t want to give up the bat. He starts swinging it around aiming for the surrounding kids, and that is when the cousin stepped in, took the bat and smacked him across the face.

His father is an argumentative sort, who finds problems with everyone and all of their choices. Obviously he really flies off the handle when his child is hit, especially when it was by a man he had been having a heated argument just seconds before.

First off I do not have children, but helped raise three sisters and grew up surrounded by little cousins as the oldest in the group. Secondly, I do not support child abuse, but I do believe in spankings. I want that clear.

I can understand where the cousin was coming from. Someone should have taken the child to task before it got that out of hand. Hugo was attacking his child and the other children with a bat, had no one stepped in someone was going to get hurt. Then the kid would have hurt someone and gotten away with it.

While I feel that action needed to taken, the approach was wrong. Children need discipline and to be taught right from wrong. Sitting in a chair and yelling at a child who obviously never listens, is not going to work. Babying him when he is so clearly in the wrong is detrimental to his social development. He is going to grow up feeling entitled and used to everyone giving him whatever he wants on a silver platter.

It drives me insane when children are not taught any manners, but to go around doing things they are not supposed to be doing is worse. It also shows the other children rebellion. If that kid doesn’t have to listen to his parents why do I? With unruly children, people wonder why the world is going psycho.

Reprimanding a child for wrong doing is completely fine, but slapping the child was wrong for different reasons. One you don’t slap a child, they need a spanking, time out or some sort of action that makes them realize they are doing wrong. Secondly it was not the cousins place to do it. The parents should have stepped in and done something. And I don’t mean breastfeeding, the kid was too old for that anyway, or separating him from the other children with the promise of explaining why he was wrong later. Discipline should be done in the moment so the child fully understands what he did wrong.

Am I wrong in thinking this? It seems like parents no longer care about their children or how they turn out. Then when the kids are all grown up, everyone expects them to act right, but how can they when they were never taught how? At the very least, if I did half the crap that kid did, I would have gotten a stern talking to and put in time out. That’s the least, at most I would have been spanked, told to say sorry and put in my room or some room alone to think about my actions.

I know I’m not the best example, but seriously people need to take control of their kids or not get upset when others do it for them.
