#BookReview: Charmed Fates (OmegaDate Diaries) by Odin Nightshade

4 out of 5 Stars

Aaron is a skeptical journalist, Indigo is a true believer helping his psychic mom out on a haunted house case. The two meet through the shifter dating app OmegaDate and hit it off. Then break it off. Both have some beliefs shaken before working everything out.

Love the idea of bringing in more supernatural than just werewolves. The story is sweet and charming but I have a few questions. They are able to shift with clothes on and not rip them.
Alpha doesn’t seem like an alpha. Like he just looks the alpha type, not actually the alpha of a pack.
What does Aaron or this world in general believe is the reason or cause for shifters if not magic or at the very least something mystical? How can a shifter not believe in something that cannot be proven by science or at least replicated through scientific means in order to be proven able to exist?

Soulmates: Dark #FlashFiction

He was my kind of gorgeous; sweet, funny, great singing voice, protective and a little good looking. Others thought differently with his jerk nature I tended to overlook, tad overweight (just more to love), controlling habits and he was a bit immature.

Still he was my soulmate and I was his. I loved everything about him, but every time we were together things would go wrong. Little things that all couples go through, so we stuck it out. That is until things went really wrong.

I came home one morning, from working nightshift at the hospital, to find another man in my waterbed. Normally I would be ok with this, I’m weird like that, but the poor man was black and blue, tied to a hook in the wall above the bed and looked terrified.

“Leo, what’s going on?” I asked tentatively.

“I needed release, you weren’t here like always. He showed up to deliver a package. I don’t have preference.” He grunted out, still buried deep inside the postman and thrusting. “He took a bit of persuasion but he is better than the corpses in the basement.”

“There are dead bodies in the basement?” I tried not to freak out. That would explain why I’m not allowed in the basement.

“I shouldn’t have said that. Now I’m going to lose the only person that has been able to keep up with me. When you’re home that is.” He kept going, as if in a hypnotic state. “You know they didn’t start out like that. I just couldn’t have them screaming when you are home.”

Mentally I thought of all the places I could run, but he has alienated me from all my friends and family. The cops would think that I was in on it because God only knows how long it has been going on. There is nowhere for me to go.

In order to save my life, I knew what I had to do: join him.

I stripped my clothes and eased down on the unnamed postman’s appendage, facing Leo. “Think of all the fun we could have together.” I said hoping to entice him.

Matching him move for move, I rode them. At the right time, I arched back to the bedside table and grabbed the dagger I keep for protection.

“Rose!” He called out and I plunged the knife deep into his heart.

“That is for thinking to kill me.” I pulled it out and went in again, loving the feel of his warm blood coat my body. “That is for not sharing.”

Magdalene is a senior in college, preparing for a trip to Europe and finally got the girl of her dreams. She has a perfect job working for a flower shop (that isn’t your typical flower shop) and not a care in the world. But Magdalene has a couple of pretty big secrets, that she wants to keep. However, the most dangerous of secrets walks in on the first day of school.
Her ex-boyfriend is back in town and ready to violate his restraining order, as well as mess with her job. So she calls in her favor to The Family, and all hell ensues. In the end only one will survive, but who is going down?

50 Shades of Grey-Zone

With all of the hate going around for 50 Shades of Grey, I have been wondering why? BDSM has been a fetish forever and like it says in the book it is really a trusting relationship. The submissive has to have major trust in their Dom in order for them to carry out the act and stop when told to.

BDSM is not rape if two consenting adults agree to that type of relationship. I know it may be hard for some to believe, but their are women AND men alike that enjoy the role of sub. The few blog posts and articles I have read and are against the movie and books, haven’t read the books and probably do not know a lot about the sexual fetish.

Anastasia may be young and naive, but entered into the relationship fully consenting. There was a contract laid out, details were agreed upon or taken out. She was able to walk away from the deal at anytime. There even were a couple of times where she did walk, but went back to him. Yes, he may have gone a bit overboard with stalking her at work or buying up her place of business, but I think that was more out of wanting to make sure she was in a safe working environment.

If two sober, consenting adults agree to a BDSM relationship, why are people flipping out about it? Why now? A couple of years ago a movie called “Secretary” came out and just the preview looks a lot more on the harder side of BDSM, but I don’t remember this much upset when it came out. Anne Rice’s book trilogy “Sleeping Beauty” is by far worse than “50 Shades of Grey” and ironically does involve rape….lots of rape.

Everybody has a fetish, whether they are willing to admit it or not. Why put one down just because it isn’t your thing? I don’t go around hating on those with a foot fetish, just because I don’t understand it and I hate feet.

Plus the books (and assuming movie) are not all about sex. Christian is obviously struggling with his childhood and searching for something to heal his spiritual wounds. Up until he meets Ana, BDSM was that outlet, but then she called to him in ways those in the past never had. He was able to open up more and allow himself to get over his past and move on because of her. The BDSM stuff is just what helped bring them to that level.
