Secrets Revealed
True to his word Julian took me back to Uncle Kevin’s house the next day and dropped Olive off at a hotel. Leaving me alone to unfurl her plan of getting me out of the house; it was simple yet intricate, get me out of their house and hope it shakes them off our trail.
I explained how I wanted I wanted to get out on my own, now that I was engaged. I just wanted to live on my own and get a sense of single living before I got married. They understood, but still wanted me to check in every once in a while, and keep working at the pub.
I told them I would keep in touch with them, but that Julian wants to take care of me. He wants me to focus my attention on my schoolwork instead of working. “I won’t be living with him, he just wants to pay my bills so I don’t have to work.”
They were not too happy about that, and tried to argue that I wouldn’t actually be making it on my own if he was paying my way. I told them that I understood that, but it was the only way he would let me move out on my own, we made a sort of compromise and this was it.
It took a little more persuading but they buckled. Still promising to check in with them, I went upstairs and packed my things. I then called for a cab and joined Olivia at a hotel across town. The next few days were just about Olivia teaching me about the world of Legends and settling into the two-room hotel suite.
On the third of January we enrolled Olive into school. Lunch was the first time I was able to get her together with David and Alistair, to make the proper introductions. “I know I told you that Olivia was Julian’s sister, but she is actually my best friend from back home.”
Alistair was first to ask questions, “Why did you lie? When did you start dating our teacher? How long have you known he is a vampire?”
“What?!? You didn’t tell Kevin did you? I thought you guys cleared him after the other day.” I was shocked they had figured it out, I honestly thought we were safe.
“We haven’t told Kevin, because until now it was just our suspensions.” I could hear the anger creeping into his voice.
I told him how I first met Julian on the plane, and how he brought me back my hoodie. I explained that I’d had only known he was a vampire for a few days, and then I dropped the bombshell, “in the past week I have not only learned that my fiancé is a vampire, but that I am…a Banshee. I can’t pronounce the Irish word for it.”
Neither said anything for a while just let it sink in. Olivia was the first to talk, “I told you they wouldn’t understand. Aren’t you glad I got you out of the hunter’s house?”
“We are OK with a Bean Sidhe, and a Morrigan. You don’t actually harm humans, though I cannot say the same for Kevin. He is a true Legend hunter.” David interjected.
“Who said anything about a Morrigan?” Olivia shrewdly watched David for any sudden movements.
“It’s possible that you are not a Morrigan, but they tend to gravitate towards banshees and really work well together because of…the type of work they do.” Alistair told us.
“OK now that we all know the truth are we cool or are we in danger? Is Julian in danger from you and Kevin?” I gingerly asked.
